I LOVE celebrating my kids birthdays! I always have! I have the best memories of parties my mom threw for me and I knew it was something I wanted to continue for my own kids. This past week my sweet Savannah turned 12. I am not even really sure how that happened.
Mamas, can you feel my pain? I mean, she was just born, like yesterday. Here we are the last year before she is a teenager. I can’t even.
The older they get the more I want to hold on to tradition and continue big celebrations for them! I thought it would be fun for her to wake up on the morning of her birthday with a yard full of candles! So, off to the dollar tree I went and I loaded up on pool noodles and craft foam. I also purchased some dowel rods from the craft store.
When I got home I used a serrated knife to cute the noodles in half so each noodle was 2 candles! I cut my dowel rods in half too. You could totally do this with a saw but I just broke them over my knee! I can’t help it. I am an impatient crafter. Next I cut flames out of the craft foam and with a little glue stuck the flame into the top hole of the noodle.
Next, was the best part! Decorating the yard! All I did was stick the dowel rod in the ground and slid the noodle over it. So stinking easy!
Bentley even helped!
Our yard was definitely a sight the next morning! But seriously, how fun? Who doesn’t want to wake up to a yard full of candles? Best part? They can be reused for everyone’s birthday! We have definitely started a new tradition!
Happy celebrating!Â
