Y’all, summer is here!

I know the calendar says it doesn’t start until June 21st, but listen – the kids are out of school, the pool is open, and I’ve got my pineapple shoes on! If you’ve been basically *anywhere* over the last couple of weeks, you’ve noticed that pineapples are IN. They’re what the cool kids would say is “on fleek”.  Naturally, I’ve jumped aboard the pineapple train and I’m not getting off anytime soon! Don’t you want to join me?

Here are a few adjectives to describe these summer shoes: bright, cheery, and cheap! Those are three of my favorite words.

Check out the super short list of supplies needed to make these cuties:

Canvas shoes (Mine are from Michael’s)

Fabric markers (see colors below)

Colored chalk (only used if you need to pre-draw your shapes)

I know you’re ready to show of your new DIY shoes, so…

Let’s get started!

  • Draw yellow ovals on canvas shoes (REMEMBER: when you’re spacing these out, less is more! You don’t want to fill up every inch of the shoe surface with these. There needs to be room for the stems too.)

  • Add green stems
  • Add the “v” shape several times on the yellow oval to make it look like the ridges on a pineapple. You can do this in whatever color you want!

If pineapples aren’t your thing, get creative! You can draw watermelons, sprinkles, fireworks, polka dots, anchors, palm trees, flamingos… the possibilities are endless!

There you have it! The perfect, comfy pair of summery, pineapple-y shoes. Show these beauties off to your friends! Send them my way so they can learn how to make their own pair.

I can’t wait to see your creations! Send me pictures and share on Facebook so others can be inspired by your ideas too! I hope you have a wonderful week and can sit back and enjoy the gift of summertime.

Xoxo,

Jessica
